- Special Order
Lilacs and buddleia, hypericum and scabiosa, silene, asclepias, crepe myrtle and creeping phlox, goldenrod, dog violets and starry eyes exist only for the pleasure of the butterflies, their colorful flight sparkling amid the flowers. Familiar favorites, bullions, cast-ons and knots, are taken a few steps farther to produce new and exciting effects. Butterflies are stitched with Iris and Glory, but metallic threads could be substituted. Each flower requires only 3-4 yards of floss, but the border requires 2 skeins of an overdyed green. New Stitches and Techniques: Mossy branch, turkey knots, huggy puff, double CK, cast-on/bullion weave and phlox.
