How to Take Clothing Measurements

  1. Get a flexible measuring tape. These are often sold in craft stores
  2. Neck:
    • Measure around the base of the neck in inches.
    • Round up to the nearest half inch.
  3. Chest:
    • Wrap tape measure under armpits around fullest part of chest (usually right above nipples
  4. Sleeve:
    • Bend your elbow and rest your hand on your hip.
    • Have someone measure from the middle of the back of your neck to your wrist by putting the tape measure over your shoulder, around your elbow and to your wrist.
  5. Waist:
    • Wrap tape measure around where you normally wear your pants. Keep tape measure a little loose by keeping a finger between the tape measure and your waist.
  6. Inseam:
    • Put on a pair of shoes.Have someone measure from your crotch to back of the heel, where you want your pants to end.
  7. Hands:
    • Measure around the hand at the fullest part (exclude thumb). The number of inches shows the size of the glove.

Merry Christmas! You can create three tiny Gingerbread stocking ornaments for your gift giving this year, each one showing various stitchers working on Christmas decorations and gifts."We’re Ready for Christmas" shows an auburn haired woman with her little friend stitching those last minute gifts. "Spot Waits for Dinner" depicts a blonde woman with her little dog who’s been waiting for her to stop stitching and give him some dinner! Finally, "Stitching Mom and Daughter" is another loving scene with a dark haired woman who is stitching with her little daughter at her feet. The backs of each stocking can be personalized with name and date, and each one has a special Christmas button. If you want another one of these stockings, the JCS Ornament Issue for 2014 has a free design called “Just One More Stitch”.

Look for the Main Accessory Pack and the Tiny Pack for the magazine ornament under Accessories, so you can stitch all four stockings for your tree this year! These three cute ornaments are stitched on Gingerbread coloured linen like:  Zweigart’s 'Antique Almond', Picture This Plus's 'Gingerbread', or Lakeside Linen’s 'Vintage Autumn Gold'. They are decorated and glued together with white icing stitching. Collect and stitch all five Gingerbread buildings, including the latest Gingerbread Bakery, and the Gingerbread House, Church, Candy Cane Cottage and Gingerbread Tree Etui, on your mantle. Also, look for the Gingerbread Cookies and Gingerbread Garden as well! Stitch, decorate and hang these delicious Gingerbread Stockings on your tree. Look for more Gingerbread Village additions in future years! Sending all of you a delicious and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from my house to yours! -Thea
