How to Take Clothing Measurements

  1. Get a flexible measuring tape. These are often sold in craft stores
  2. Neck:
    • Measure around the base of the neck in inches.
    • Round up to the nearest half inch.
  3. Chest:
    • Wrap tape measure under armpits around fullest part of chest (usually right above nipples
  4. Sleeve:
    • Bend your elbow and rest your hand on your hip.
    • Have someone measure from the middle of the back of your neck to your wrist by putting the tape measure over your shoulder, around your elbow and to your wrist.
  5. Waist:
    • Wrap tape measure around where you normally wear your pants. Keep tape measure a little loose by keeping a finger between the tape measure and your waist.
  6. Inseam:
    • Put on a pair of shoes.Have someone measure from your crotch to back of the heel, where you want your pants to end.
  7. Hands:
    • Measure around the hand at the fullest part (exclude thumb). The number of inches shows the size of the glove.

This wickedly delicious Gingerbread Haunted House is the sixth addition to the Gingerbread Village. This distinctly Halloween Gingerbread building is perfect for October, although you can add it to the Christmas Gingerbread Village too. It is stitched on Gingerbread colored linen like the other pieces in the series and is dripping with black icing, windows, and wrought iron touches. I love the purple mansard roof.. but I couldn’t find a good purple linen in my stash, so I dyed my first pieces of linen with purple and black mixture.. it looks great! (My dyeing instructions are below) The Haunted House is made of two main pieces; the main two-story house and the spooky tower in the front. You will be stitching with yummy overdyed silk flosses, Perle Cottons, sparkling beads and a large quantity of delicious looking ‘candy’ buttons, pumpkins, ghosts, spiders, candy corn and skeletons! There are even some cute Trick or Treat Kid buttons.. wonderful to add for that extra fun! Some finishing instructions are included at the end of this leaflet. This year, place this special decoration on your hall table all October to celebrate the fall and Halloween! Wishing all of you a happy Halloween, with ghosts and goblins and things that go bump in the night! -Thea
