Fabrics by Count

Categorizes our fabrics by number of threads or thread blocks per inch.

Subcategories

  • 11 count fabric

    Evenweave weave fabric with 11 threads or thread bundles per inch = 11 stitches per inch.

  • 14 count fabric

    Evenweave weave fabric with 14 threads or thread bundles per inch = 14 stitches per inch.

  • 16 count fabric

    Evenweave fabric with 16 threads or thread bundles per inch = 16 stitches per inch

  • 18 count fabric

    Evenweave fabrics with 18 threads to the inch.

  • 22 count fabric

    Fabrics with 22 threads or holes per inch, giving 22 stitches per inch.  Most commonly used for Hardanger and very fine cross stitch (over 1).

  • 25 count fabric

    Evenweave fabrics with 25 threads per inch, or approximately 10 threads per centimetre.

  • 28 count fabric
    Linen with a thread count of 28 threads per inch. Usually stitched over 2 threads giving a stitch count of 14 stitches per inch.
  • 32 count fabric

    Evenweave fabrics with 32 threads per inch, or 12.5 threads per centimetre.  Customarily stitched over 2 threads, giving 16 stitches per inch - equivalent to stitching on 16 count Aida but with a much finer looking background for unstitched areas.

  • 36 count fabric

    Evenweave fabrics with 36 threads per inch, or 14 threads per centimetre. Commonly used for fine cross stitch and counted work.  When stitched over 2 threads gives 18 stitches per inch (equivalent to stitcing on 18 count Aida but with a finer background).

  • 40 count fabric
    Evenweave fabrics with 40 threads per inch.  Usually stitched over-2 threads, yielding 20 stitches per inch.
