Stranded embroidery thread that is divisible into individual strands. Strands are often re-combined to ensure adequate coverage of the background fabric. May be used for cross stitch, surface embroidery, needlepoint/canvaswork, crazy quilting, and many other embroidery or lace making projects. Often available in a large variety of colours. Individual strands are usually about size 25, and often in 6 strands, though 12 and 7 strands are common in silks. May be made of silk, cotton, or wool.
